Plus-Size Swimwear: Choosing the Support You Prefer
Support in plus-size swimwear depends on construction as well as size. Start with where you want stability, how much coverage you enjoy and the movement you need. The same clothing size can fit differently across swimsuits.

Notice what feels uncomfortable
Slipping or digging straps, an underband that rolls, cups that gape or overflow, and fabric that pulls in one place are useful fitting clues. They do not all have the same solution. Tightening every adjustment or choosing a smaller size is not a reliable way to add support.
Compare specific features
- Straps: adjustable length and different widths may offer a more comfortable fit.
- Underband: check how a band beneath the bust sits and whether it remains comfortable as you move.
- Cups: compare shape, coverage and cup sizing where provided, with or without underwire according to your preference.
- Lining and cut: these affect how the garment feels and how much it covers.
No single feature guarantees the right fit. Read the description and examine detail photos; “plus-size” does not automatically mean structured cups, adjustable straps or specialist support.
Use your measurements and preferences
Follow the measuring method in the model’s size guide. For a one-piece, consider torso length as well as the requested bust, waist and hip measurements. With separates, check whether you can choose different sizes for the top and bottom.
A one-piece, bikini or tankini can be an option according to the coverage and fit you prefer. There is no required style for a particular body shape.
Check comfort before choosing
During a permitted fitting, sit, raise your arms and move gently. Look for a fit that feels secure without pinching or constant adjustment. Check available sizes, stated features and return conditions before ordering.
